Students are taught the following techniques of self-regulation using a process referred to as meta-cognition wherein the teacher models aloud the steps and thought processes for how to use each self-regulating technique. This is accomplished by using self-talk and all of the self-regulation techniques in front of the students. In addition to in-class “think-alouds,” teachers can also pre-record their self-regulatory “thinking” then play it for their class.
